When I went to Singapore I had to go to the Raffles Hotel, where the Singapore Sling was invented. According to Wikipidia, “this long drink was developed sometime before 1915[1] by Ngiam Tong Boon, a Hainanese bartender working at the Long Bar in Raffles Hotel, Singapore. It was initially called the gin sling,[2] – a sling was originally an American drink composed of spirit and water, sweetened and flavored.” Get the Singapore Sling – Original Recipe Here!
When I wrote about the ZamZam I had in Singapore I had to mention that I tasted this drink as well and naturally, I thought I’d include the recipe for you here. It may be a big hit at your next summer party!
- 1 ml gin
- 1/2 ml Heering® cherry liqueur
- 4 ml pineapple juice
- 1/2 ml lime juice
- 1/4 ml Cointreau® orange liqueur
- 1/4 ml benedictine herbal liqueur
- 1 - 2 tsp grenadine syrup
- 1 dash Angostura® bitters
- Mix all in a shaker and pour in glass filled with ice. Garnish with a slice of pineapple and cherry.
