This appetizer was so fresh and light. It was a total hit at my party one summer in Vancouver.
You start with some toasted baguette.
In the meantime, mix the tomato and all other ingredients you can find in the recipe below.
Add a little salt and pepper to some fresh Ahi Tuna
Sear it on all sides but keep the middle pink and raw.
Here is the rest of the recipe.
- 3 Roma tomatoes, seeded and finely chopped
- 2 shallots, finely chopped
- ¼ cup basil, finely chopped
- ¼ cup red wine vinegar
- ½ cup olive oil
- 4 sashimi grade yellowfin or ahi tuna steaks
- salt and pepper to taste
- Slice and toast the baguette.
- Combine first 5 ingredients and set aside to marinate.
- Slice the Ahi into thin round slices. Lay on top of toasted baguette slices, and top with tomato mixture. Garnish with a toasted garlic slices.
This recipe is super healthy. It’s full of protein, omega fatty acids and lycopene from the tomatoes. Since it’s served on a baguette, for those of you following the 4-HourBODY diet, make sure you have your party on your cheat day so you can eat this. Unless you omit the baguette. Then it’s okay 😉
